Why these three camp shoes
A camp shoe is for the water, the tent, and town. It should dry, pack flat, and not be a second boot. Most thru-hikers who carry one carry a sandal.
Bedrock Cairn is first: a sole you can walk a road in, straps that drain, testers still put it on top. Luna Mono is the Premium Pick — cottage, a thinner sole, sold next to the hammock crowd. Chaco Z/Cloud is Best Value: cushioned, repairable, the camp sandal testers still call overall.

Bedrock Cairn
What it is
Minimalist adventure sandal with adjustable webbing, Vibram outsole (XS Trek EVO on current Evo models; Megagrip on Pro), and a packable footprint. Card: about 13.6 oz / pair, $115. OutdoorGearLab tests the Cairn Evo; Field Mag covers the Evo updates.
Camp shoe and water-crossing sandal for hikers who still want a sole you can walk a road in. Packs flatter than a clog; open straps drain. Not a cushioned day-hike Chaco substitute.
Best Overall camp sandal: the tester default when the job is camp + crossings with a Vibram sole and secure straps, ahead of lighter cottage and budget minimalist options.

Luna Mono
What it is
Zero-drop Mono Winged with Vibram Morflex-class outsole, winged strap hubs, and a thinner pack profile than many adventure sandals. CleverHiker rates the men’s Mono Winged about 4.4/5; pair weight in their notes ~11–12 oz. Card $99.
Cottage sandal for camp, lake days, and warm trail miles when you want a flatter pack and a huarache feel. Thinner sole and more break-in than a Cairn for some feet; less structure than a closed-toe camp shoe.
Premium Pick beside the Cairn: named-test cottage sandal with Vibram grip and a flatter pack, for hikers who prefer Luna’s strap system over Bedrock’s.

Chaco Z/Cloud
What it is
Chaco Z/Cloud. Card 30 oz / pair · $105. Cushioned Z-strap sandal you can resole. CleverHiker’s 2026 camp-shoe test names it Best Camp Shoe Overall (4.9/5): support, a midsole that takes trail sting, and an in-house resole program. Heavier than a Cairn.
Camp, water, and easy trail miles when comfort beats grams. CleverHiker sends it beyond camp — day hikes, socks in cool weather, years of wear. Not the packable cottage sandal. Cairn and Mono stay lighter; this one is the cushioned, repairable pair.
Best Value on this list: the cushioned Z-strap testers still call the overall camp shoe, opposite a Vibram Cairn and a cottage Mono. Heavier. You buy it if you want a midsole and a resole, not a gram win.
